We are not even halfway through Term 1 preparing school lunches already feels like an overwhelming daily task for parents, especially those of us with selective eaters! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with ourdietitian’s top five pre packed foods to make packing your child’s lunchbox easier.

“There can be a great deal of nourishment in some pre-packed snacks.” Kate Upton, Dietitian at helpz reassures. “Often selective eaters can be anxious about the contents of their lunchbox. Top tips

  1. Keep it simple – it’s ok for fussy eaters to have the same type of lunch every day – don’t overcomplicate it
  2. Temperature control, pack an ice brick to keep dairy snacks and food cool during these summer months
  3. Plan ahead – buy pre packed snacks for the week, so you can just grab and pack

Gentle Boundaries for a Balanced December As we approach the year’s end, December invites a mix of celebration, reflection, and routines shifting out of their usual rhythm. For many caregivers and individuals with disabilities, this season can bring added sensory demands, social expectations, and emotional fatigue. Amidst the gatherings, gift-giving, and year-end deadlines, it’s important to remember that wellbeing is not a luxury - it’s the foundation that allows us to show up with patience, compassion, and presence. This month, we’re encouraging everyone to approach the holiday period with gentle boundaries, slower pacing, and intentional care. Whether you support someone with additional needs or you’re managing your own wellbeing on top of daily responsibilities, your energy matters. Saying no when needed isn’t a rejection - it’s actually a big yes to choosing balance, sustainability, and emotional safety.
