OT Week: Celebrating 80 years of Connection

October 23, 2024

A message from Tran Vu, Senior Occupational Therapist and Practice Lead, OT at helpz

This year marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 80 years since the formation of Occupational Therapy clubs in Australia.

Through connection, we aim to understand you and your needs and to empower you to participate fully in everyday life, to connect to yourself and to your community.

The work we proudly do supports you through all ages and milestones whether you are a child developing motor skills and school readiness skills, a young adult starting your first job, new parents through parenthood or elderly to maintain your mobility and independence.

Our work encompasses assistive technology, environmental modifications, sensory processing, independent living skills, self-regulation skills and so much more.

At helpz, we work as part of multidisciplinary teams including Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Music Therapy, Counsellors and Behaviour Support. We believe in building strong connections with you to live your life, everyday.

Happy Occupational Therapy Week 2024!

Gentle Boundaries for a Balanced December As we approach the year’s end, December invites a mix of celebration, reflection, and routines shifting out of their usual rhythm. For many caregivers and individuals with disabilities, this season can bring added sensory demands, social expectations, and emotional fatigue. Amidst the gatherings, gift-giving, and year-end deadlines, it’s important to remember that wellbeing is not a luxury - it’s the foundation that allows us to show up with patience, compassion, and presence. This month, we’re encouraging everyone to approach the holiday period with gentle boundaries, slower pacing, and intentional care. Whether you support someone with additional needs or you’re managing your own wellbeing on top of daily responsibilities, your energy matters. Saying no when needed isn’t a rejection - it’s actually a big yes to choosing balance, sustainability, and emotional safety.
